WA Mission to Tanzania was established in 2004 to work closely with Interplast Australia and Operation Rainbow.
Located in Perth Western Australia, WA Mission to Tanzania raises much needed funds for surgical missions to Tanzania to perform operations on children who would otherwise not have access to such specialist services.
The Surgical Team
In 2006 two surgical missions were successfully completed. The first in July to the CCBRT Hospital in Dar es Salaam. This team included Plastic Surgeons Dr Mark Lee and James Savundra, Anaesthetist Andrew Wilde, Nurses Margaret Twine, Patricia Masterson, and Takako Hosie and Occupational Therapist Jillian Green.
The subsequent mission in July travelled to Mwanza and included Plastic Surgeons Dr Tony Baker and Dr Chris Allen, Anaesthetist Ross Boulter and Nurses Gillian McCallum, Fiona Walker and Phyllis Jones.
At the end of June 2007 the first surgical mission will visit Bugando Hospital in Mwanza, in the north west of Tanzania. The team will comprise of Plastic Surgeons Dr Tony Connell and Dr James Burt, Anaesthetists Dr Tim Mann and Dr Andrew Wild, nurses Wilma Dunne, Michelle Carthew, Meg Twine, Takako Hosie, Lisa Thompson and Occupational Therapist Jillian Green.
In November 2007 another surgical team will travel to Bugando Hospital in Mwanza Tanzania comprised of Plastic Surgeons, Dr Tony Baker and Dr Chris Allen, Anaesthetists, Dr Ross Boulter and Dr Barney Cresswell and nurses Gillian McCallum, Phyllis Jones and Fiona Walker.
Organisational and Fund Raising Committee WA Mission to Tanzania raises funds primarily through the efforts of its volunteer organisational committee comprising of the following:
